Murphy & Prachthauser: Law Firms Announce Separation

Milwaukee, WI – The two service corporations that presently compose the law firm of Murphy, Gillick, Wicht and Prachthauser announced recently that they have agreed to separate their practices and operate independently. The two firms will now identify themselves to the public as Murphy & Prachthauser, concentrating on personal injury litigation, and Gillick, Wicht, Gillick and Graf, concentrating in workers’ compensation, social security disability and associated aspects of the law.

Spokespersons for the two firms described the separation as amicable and beneficial to both groups. They each stressed that there would continue to be cooperation between the firms, but that the move would allow each firm the independence necessary to pursue and promote their individual areas of expertise.

Murphy & Prachthauser will maintain offices at Plaza East, 330 East Kilbourn Avenue in Milwaukee, and will also continue to have branch offices in Greenfield, Mequon and Waukesha. Gillick, Wicht, Gillick and Graf will operate from its own building at 6300 West Bluemound Road, and will also have a branch office at 4811 South 76th Street.

Murphy & Prachthauser founded their personal injury practice in Milwaukee in 1979, and have earned a statewide and national reputation for attaining personal injury recoveries that, in aggregate, total tens of millions of dollars. The firm’s attorneys – James Murphy, Don Prachthauser, Melita Biese, Kevin Kukor, Keith Stachowiak, Thadd Llaurado, Mark Baus, Gail Brown and M. Josef Zimmermann (of counsel) – have collectively and successfully represented thousands of people harmed as the result of automobile accidents, defective products and medical malpractice.

Gillick, Wicht, Gillick and Graf has successfully represented injured workers in workplaces and industries throughout Wisconsin since its founding by Lawrence D. Gillick in 1948. Four of its attorneys – Michael Gillick, Dennis Wicht, Patrick Gillick and Charles Graf – continue to concentrate on all aspects of work injury litigation and social security disability.
