The Leaders Forum honors Baymont Inns & Suites associate with prestigious honor

Milwaukee, Wisconsin (May 27, 2004)—Melva Sabatke, brand manager for Baymont Inns, Inc., was honored with the Excellence in Leadership Award from The Leaders Forum in Milwaukee at its recent Connecting for Success Awards Luncheon on May 20, 2004. The Leaders Forum is a Milwaukee-based organization that promotes leadership through relationships, retention and resource sharing among African-Americans in southeastern Wisconsin.

“Melva is a champion for those in need and her commitment to helping others seems endless,” said Jim Abrahamson, president and chief operating officer for Baymont Inns, Inc. “Melva remains energized by her work, her community and the opportunity of helping others.”

Sabatke was the 2004 Marcus Corporation United Performing Artist Fund Campaign Chairperson, and has coordinated numerous food, clothing, toy and cellular phone drives to benefit individuals and families in Milwaukee that are less fortunate.

“The Excellence in Leadership Award recognizes an African American professional who had distinguished himself or herself through visible leadership, sustained commitment and service to others,” said Flamont T. Bulter, interim executive director of The Leaders Forum. “Melva’s volunteer service and leadership in numerous organizations throughout the community is a testament to her strong leadership.”

Other award recipients included: Johnson Controls, Diversity in Leadership Award; Greater Milwaukee Foundation, Diversity in Action Award; and John W. Daniels, Distinguished Leadership Award.
