Fond du Lac County Economic Development Corporation (FCEDC) and the Center for Enterprise Development (CED) is inviting the Fond du Lac County business community to a kick-off of the “Impact!” economic gardening program. The event will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, October 28th at the Holiday Inn in Fond du Lac.

The event is being held so that businesses and those who provide services to businesses can learn more about the program and the value it has brought to several local businesses through a pre-implementation pilot program. The economic gardening model, on which the “Impact!” program is based, is aimed at growing economies from within by assisting businesses with specialized tools and services.

“Impact!” builds upon existing business development services already provided by FCEDC and supplies businesses with timely, relevant, and actionable information about their competitors and markets. Information is mined from high-powered databases, geographic information systems, trade association, and government web sites to glean useful information to increase client competitiveness. The companies are provided with a report that summarizes and analyzes this information. FCEDC staff will continue to be at the side of clients, in a consultative role, as the businesses implement growth strategies highlighted by the analysis provided to them via the program.

The event will also celebrate the $437,899 grant received from the U.S. Department of Commerce Economic Development Administration that will fund the implementation and three years of the program. A light lunch will be served. Responses for event attendance are not required but are very much appreciated and can be sent to annette@fcedc.com or called in to (920) 929-2928.

The mission of Fond du Lac County Economic Development Corporation is to improve the economic well being of the businesses, communities, and residents of the county via business attraction activities, existing business development, entrepreneurial services, community preparedness and consultation and workforce development.
