Project Expected to Create 30 Jobs
MADISON – Governor Jim Doyle today announced that Semba Biosciences, Madison, has received a $250,000 Technology Venture Fund (TVF) loan from the Department of Commerce for equipment and working capital to expand its capabilities into additional product lines and international distribution.
“By continuing to invest in biotech research and development, we are moving toward an economy that is stronger than ever and is built around the things we value: science, technology, life-saving advances,” Governor Doyle said. “These are real things that we can count on to make life better, and I am pleased to help Semba expand its capabilities, creating jobs for hardworking Wisconsin families.”
“Wisconsin continues to demonstrate its commitment to the biotech industry,” said Bob Mierendorf, president of Semba. “We are very appreciative of the state’s support to expand our business, which in turn will provide sales to several local manufacturers.”
Semba Biosciences, Inc., established in May 2005, supplies scientific instruments and reagents to the worldwide research community. Total project cost is $1.1 million and Semba has committed to hire over 30 employees within the next three years.
