BROOKFIELD – Tom Hefty, a former Wisconsin CEO who co-authored a recent report on the Wisconsin economy for “Wisconsin Interest” and other publications, will speak at the Thursday, Sept. 10 meeting of the Wisconsin Innovation Network in Brookfield.
The meeting will be held at Brookfield Suites Hotel and Convention Center, 1200 S. Moorland Road, just off I-94 in Brookfield. Registration and networking begins at 11:30 a.m., lunch at noon and the presentation at 12:30 p.m. The cost is $10 for students, $25 for WIN members, $35 for non-members and included with WIN corporate memberships. Hefty, the retired chief executive officer of Blue Cross-Blue Shield of Wisconsin, joined Serigraph CEO John Torinus Jr. in writing “Wisconsin flunks its economics test” for the July edition of Wisconsin Interest, which is published by the Wisconsin Policy Research Institute.
A former member of the Wisconsin Technology Council board and the former co-chairman of Gov. Jim Doyle’s Economic Growth Council, Hefty believes state economic development policies have largely failed to create jobs and raise family incomes.
“Hefty will discuss metrics that compare Wisconsin’s economy to those in other states – and offer some ideas for how the state can regain momentum in sectors where he sees significant decline,” said Tom Still, president of the Tech Council.
