St. Paul, August 19, 2009 – When dominant personality characteristics are categorized with four Insights Discovery colors – red, yellow, green and blue – greater awareness of similarities and differences occurs and people learn how to communicate better and achieve company objectives. This will be the core message of an engaging Nov. 12 opening session by Scott Schwefel, Insights Managing Partner, for the Twin Cities chapter of the American Society for Training and Development’s 4th Annual Conference & Expo at the RiverCentre in St. Paul.

“Insights will be offering everyone who registers for the conference an Insights Discovery Profile,” says Schwefel. Registrants will complete the online evaluator in advance and are encouraged to bring their personal profile with them on the day of the conference. Participants who have completed the profile in the past (Schwefel addressed the ASTD-TCC chapter in May 2008) will receive two additional resources in their profiles: a Personal Achievement chapter and an Effective Selling chapter. Schwefel said that conference attendees who do not go online prior to the event will still have two full weeks following the event to complete the online evaluator and receive their profile.

“To specifically address the ASTD audience, I will explore personalities and discuss how trainers and learning consultants can leverage this knowledge to increase their individual effectiveness and overall organizational agility,” Schwefel said. Participants will be given a color dot indicating their dominant personality to affix to their nametag. “This will allow everyone to experience interacting with similar and different personality types throughout the rest of the conference,” he said.

Other features of the ASTD-TCC Conference & Expo include:

* Four concurrent pre-conference workshops from 1-4 p.m. on Nov. 11

* Nov. 12 keynote speaker Mark Thompson, co-author of Success Built to Last

* Breakout sessions sharing leading-edge thinking and new WLP tools and technologies

* Dozens of exhibitors and suppliers to the workplace learning and performance industry

“One of the primary goals of the ASTD conference is to create an experience, not just an event,” says Jessica Frier, conference chair. “The Insights Discovery opening session does just that, and will set the tone for the entire conference.”
