Beloit, WI – (July 21, 2009) The Greater Beloit Chamber of Commerce (GBCC) is doing its part to support the next generation of food producers and to help those in need of food during these challenging economic times. The Chamber is collecting donations from GBCC members and will use the combined funds to purchase meat animals at the Rock County 4-H Fair Meat Animal Sale on Friday July 31st. The GBCC will attend the sale to represent the GBCC member donors and use the combined funds raised to make a successful bid or bids. After local processing, the frozen meat will be donated to the Salvation Army in Beloit for use in their various meal programs.

“The Rock County 4-H Fair is the oldest 4-H fair in the U.S. and is a reflection of our region’s rich agricultural heritage. The GBCC supports youth involvement in 4-H and values its important connection to the food processing and technology industry cluster that is vital to our regional economy,” stated Amy Loudenbeck, Interim President of the Greater Beloit Chamber of Commerce.

The GBCC also has a limited quantity of free fair passes for Chamber members who wish to make their own bids at the Meat Animal Sale on Friday July 31 at 8:30 a.m. at the Rock County Fairgrounds in Janesville. Contributions are tax deductible. The GBCC and all donors will be recognized at the sale. Please contact (608) 365-8835 for additional information or to make your donation.
