Clients won’t be dropped and 10 employees hired

MADISON , Wis. – June 28, 2009 – When a business decides to close its doors, it can be a sad day for employees and clients alike. But when Pure Massage of Madison recently decided to close up shop, the pain was nonexistent for everyone involved.

Pure Massage of Madison was recently sold to Oasis Day Spa, a 14-year-old day spa located in the Princeton Club West on Watts Road.

According to Oasis owner Lori Heffernon, the purchase represents a win-win for everyone: clients, the owner and her. “I’m really pleased to welcome Pure Massage clients to our spa,” she says. “I’m also able to welcome all ten massage therapists into my practice.” The Oasis’ west-side location also means Pure Massage clients won’t have to travel far out of their way for their next service.

Heffernon says the additional staff means even better service to all her clients. “With 10 more therapists, we can better serve Madison and accommodate last-minute calls, longer hours and more on-site opportunities. Our client list has almost doubled, so this is an amazing opportunity for our spa.”

Pure Massage was owned by Jim and Matt Schindelbeck, and offered both chiropractic services as well as massage. According to Matt Schindelbeck, the decision to sell was based on a desire for a personal change and a move. “I wanted to move out of state for personal reasons,” says Matt Schindelbeck. “I was searching for someone who could acquire an already-successful business and allow our clients as little disruption as possible. This has worked out extremely well.”

In a market in which three day spas have closed since January, Heffernon says her spa is thriving and hopes to reach the million dollar mark in 2009 despite the economy. Growth isn’t easy, says Heffernon. “I’m always looking for positive ways to keep our staff busy and clients happy,” she says. “This year, our focus has been on building relationships with the community and clients. I truly believe that is why we were chosen to acquire Pure Massage.”
