MILWAUKEE, Wis. (May 19, 2009) — The national law firm of Quarles & Brady LLP today announced that Katherine “Katie” Maloney Perhach, a partner, has won a Women of Influence award from The Business Journal of Milwaukee in the category of Community Supporter. Perhach, who was nominated for the distinction by her coworkers, will receive the award at a luncheon June 15 at the Midwest Airlines Center in Milwaukee.

Perhach focuses her practices on litigation disputes involving lender liability, eminent domain and condemnation, land use, property rights and easements, and bankruptcy. She was nominated by her peers for not only her excellence as a litigator, but also for her commitment in giving back to the community.

Perhach was recently appointed by Governor Jim Doyle to the Wisconsin Board for People with Developmental Disabilities, which helps ensure that people with developmental disabilities and their families have the same opportunities as other citizens. It is an appointment with a personal connection to Perhach, whose son has Down Syndrome. She is also involved with other organizations for the developmentally disabled, including the St. Francis Children’s Center, Down Syndrome Association of Wisconsin, Wisconsin Upside Down Foundation and Best Buddies of Wisconsin. In addition, Perhach serves as the Firm’s coordinator for the Quarles & Brady/Marquette Volunteer Legal Clinic at the Spanish Center, serving the south side of Milwaukee. In addition to the Women of Influence Award, she recently received the Association for Women Lawyers’ Pro Bono Award, Marquette University Law School’s prestigious Howard B. Eisenberg Award for service to the community, and the Private Law Firm Pro Bono Attorney of the Year award presented by the Legal Assistance Committee of the State Bar of Wisconsin.

Perhach graduated cum laude from Marquette University Law School, where she also earned her undergraduate degree. She and her husband, Brian, are both natives of Wauwatosa, Wis. They currently reside with their two sons in Whitefish Bay.
