MADISON, WIS. (May 7, 2009) — Two Madison-area companies, Hydrite Chemical Co. and Certco Inc., see the current economy as an opportunity to buck the national trend and expand. Working with Stevens Construction Corp., both companies are building new facilities that will add more jobs to the Madison-area workforce.

Certco hired Stevens Construction to build one of the largest single-freezer facilities in Madison. At 172,000 square feet, the new warehouse will include shipping docks, office mezzanine and high tolerance floor slabs. The project will serve as Certco’s second location in Madison. “We are excited to be constructing another unique project for our client,” says Glenn Hofer, Project Executive at Stevens Construction. “Current material pricing and subcontractor capacity will allow us to provide more value than ever. Certco understands that now is a great time to build.”

Hydrite is working with Stevens Construction to build the addition of a 22,400 square-foot structural steel and architectural precast panel warehouse to Hydrite’s existing facility in Cottage Grove. “Our relationship with Hydrite goes back more than 15 years. We are thankful to have this opportunity to help them grow and provide jobs during the current economic downturn,” says Geoff Vine, President of Stevens Construction. “Hats off to Hydrite.”

Both companies’ strong financial positions enable them to build when project financing is difficult. As a result, they are able to take important steps to not only grow their businesses, but to help rebuild the economy.
