MADISON – Can Wisconsin’s colleges and universities become incubators for entrepreneurship, off campus as well as on? Learn more about a successful model for campus entrepreneurship from Charles Hoslet, managing director of the UW-Madison Office of Corporate Relations, at the Thursday, May 14 meeting of the Wisconsin Innovation Network in Milwaukee.

The meeting will be held at Brookfield Suites Hotel and Convention Center, 1200 S. Moorland Road, just off I-94 in Brookfield. Registration and networking begins at 11:30 a.m., lunch at noon and the presentation at 12:30 p.m. The cost is $10 for students, $25 for WIN members, $35 for non-members and included with WIN corporate memberships. Fostering entrepreneurship on the UW-Madison campus and extending that culture statewide can help build Wisconsin’s high-growth economy. Hoslet will discuss a mix of resources and workshops, on- and off-campus, that are available to help entrepreneurs, inventors and investors make the connections they need to form and grow successful new business enterprises.

“The Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation singled out UW-Madison for a major grant to promote entrepreneurship, and the results can already be seen,” said Tom Still, president of the Wisconsin Technology Council and WIN. “Other examples include entrepreneurship programs at Marquette University, UW-Whitewater and Fox Valley Technical College. It’s an exciting trend for Wisconsin.”

The Office of Corporate Relations serves as the front door to UW-Madison resources for business and industry. It serves companies by recruiting graduates and interns, accessing faculty and staff expertise, licensing technology and fostering entrepreneurship.

WIN is the membership affiliate of the Tech Council, with chapters in Madison, Milwaukee, northeast Wisconsin, central Wisconsin, western Wisconsin and the Lake Superior region. To learn more or to join, contact Liz Schrum at 608-442-7557 or at lschrum@wisconsintechnologycouncil.com
