MADISON, Wis – The Wisconsin Chapter of the International Interior Designers Association (IIDA) is holding the 2009 Interior Perspectives, in conjunction with the AIA Wisconsin (a society of the American Institute of Architects) Convention and Building Products Expo on May 20 & 21, 2009 at the Monona Terrace, One John Nolen Drive, Madison.

The Interior Perspectives will include a variety of informational speakers and provide CEU learning units:

• 9:45 – 11:15 am, May 20, Rusty McBride, LC, Regional Vice President for Lightolier will be speaking on “Understand LED Technology & How It Works”. McBride has been involved with several industry think tanks, has been published in LDA and is actively involved in several high profile projects.

• 9:00 – 11:30 am, May 21, Theodore Drab will be presenting “Language & Design”. Drab will help reinforce a stronger profession by helping designer build a vocabulary that reinforces professionism and articulate the role of interior designers.

• 2:00 – 3:30 pm, Thursday, 21st. Christine Astorino-Delsole, the founder of Fathom, will engage us in “Fathom the Possibilities of Deeper Design”. Designers will learn how to delve into client’s subconscious thoughts and desires in order to create the ideal space.

• 3:45 – 5:15 pm, Thursday, Bryan Walker, a research lead member in the Human Factors Group and Smart Space, will speak on “Breathing Life into Buildings: How IDEO Uses its “Design Thinking” Approach to Innovate Physical Spaces”. Designers will address a means of problem solving that uses design methodologies to tap into a deep reservoir of opportunity.

Be sure to attend Celebrate 2009 In Design! Gala held on the 21st at the Inn on the Park from 5:30 – 8:00 pm with Cheryl Durst, Hon, IIDA, LED AP, the Executive Vice President and CEO of the IIDA, as master of ceremonies. Student and professional awards of design excellence will be awarded. Food, entertainment and silent & live auction will also be included.

Trade Show Expo will be available at the Monona Terrace on 3:00 – 7:00 pm on Wednesday, 20th and 11:00 – 2:00 pm on Thursday, 21st.
