Cross Plains , WI —Last week over 49 local business people met to finalize the transition from the Cross Plains Business Association to Cross Plains Area Chamber of Commerce.
This transition has been over a year in the making. Previously known as the Cross Plains Businessmen’s Association, the group was formed on April 12, 1954 . The Association was organized for the purpose of advancing the business and civic interests of the community. As the Cross Plains Area has grown and expanded its needs and interests, the Association realized that it was somewhat limited as a business association. At the 2008 annual dinner a motion was passed to transition the Cross Plains Business Association to the Cross Plains Area Chamber of Commerce.
The Cross Plains Area Chamber of Commerce mission statement is: “Promote a strong economy and high quality of life for our Chamber members and the Cross Plains area communities.”
The Cross Plains Area Chamber of Commerce will continue to support events and the community as the business association has in the past. We host the Memorial Day Chicken BBQ, annual golf outing, networking events, annual dinner, Santa’s visit, and act as one of the partners for the World’s Fair, just to name a few. Now that we are a Chamber, we look forward to growing our membership and benefits, offering Chamber health insurance, hosting a new interactive website, expanding regional relationships, advertising, marketing, and educational opportunities, and promotion of local companies and members.
