Madison’s only fashion networking & runway series moves to larger venue to accommodate growing audience

MADISON, Wis. (September 30, 2008) – Punk rocker meets schoolgirl. Palace guard meets Sherlock Holmes. Equestrian meets Victorian lady. These style cues made headlines at the Fall 08 shows of Ralph Lauren, Dolce & Gabbana, DSquared, and now join under the October 17th Fashion Fridays theme, “London Calling.”

Nearly 60 local models competed for 16 female and 4 male slots in the Fashion Fridays’ runway show, the largest open call total to date.

“Most people would be surprised to know that Madison even has 60 models, or independent designers making money at doing what they love to do,” said Kristi Moe, event producer. “Yes – there is a fashion industry here. My goal is to make that less surprising and more accessible.”

This growing support among the Madison fashion community, along with the last Fashion Fridays’ event being over venue capacity, lead Producer Kristi Moe to move the show to a larger venue. The 15,000 square foot commercial penthouse at 2450 Rimrock Road on the Alexander Company’s Novation Campus will be able to accommodate the 50’ runway, 300+ guests and mini-boutiques set-up by each retailer involved in the show for on-site shopping.

Presenting lines will be independent designers and boutiques from Madison to Milwaukee including Fred Boutique, Red Heel, Newd Clothing, Maverick Clothing and Patricia Shoppe.

Hybrid Salon is the official beauty sponsor and will be providing all hair and make-up designs. Other sponsors include Mando Photography, Redken, and Sephora.

Live performances are scheduled including Christian Rokk as the runway DJ.

An after-party will be hosted immediately following at the Cardinal Bar.

The winner of the continuing “Best Emerging DJ” series will perform along with the DJs of Clearly Good Music, DJ Christian Rokk and Wyatt Agard. A “Best Dressed” prize will be awarded to an attendee best stylizing the event’s theme “London Calling.”

Tickets start at $10 for general admission and go up to $200 for bottle service tables at the end of the runway. Reserved seating may only be purchased in advance online at http://www dot madisonfashionweek dot com/tickets.
