COO and Sales/Marketing VP to lead at top U.S. pharma supply chain conference

NOTE TO REPORTERS/EDITORS – Mr. Wiesman and Mr. Bartholomew will be available for interviews and comments before and during the LogiPharma Conference. Please contact Chris Lato at Avicom Marketing Communications to make arrangements.

MENOMONEE FALLS, Wis. – Sept. 12, 2008 – Two of the top executives at DDN will play leadership roles at LogiPharma 2008, considered among the top pharmaceutical supply chain conferences in the United States. The 7th Annual LogiPharma will be held Sept. 15-18 in Philadelphia, Pa.

DDN Sales and Marketing Vice President Michael Bartholomew will act as Chairman of the first full day of conference sessions on Sept. 16, focusing on the global supply chain. Also on Sept. 16, DDN COO Mark Wiesman will spearhead an afternoon roundtable workshop entitled “Things Every Company Needs to Know in Order to Successfully Launch a Product.”

Both DDN executives welcome the opportunity to share their expertise with LogiPharma attendees. Bartholomew pointed out DDN offers extensive experience in managing the global supply chain, and focusing on emerging markets in the pharmaceutical industry. Since 2005, DDN has established itself as the largest importer of pharmaceutical product from India and has professional relationships with six of the top 10 pharmaceutical manufacturers in India.

DDN was also the first U.S. business to develop an outsourced solution that ensures a safe, fully protected supply chain for vital medicines that require specialized handling. In compliance with legislation in California intended to protect drugs from being counterfeited, diluted or otherwise tampered with along the supply chain, the DDN solution protects manufacturers and ensures that drugs arrive in patients’ hands safely, and at a lower cost.

“As these supply chain practices are put in place, patients can rest assured about the quality of the products they are taking,” Bartholomew noted. “Also, early estimates suggest the pharmaceutical industry will ultimately save hundreds of millions, even billions of dollars in costs – allowing for those savings to be passed on to consumers.”

Another area of focus at LogiPharma is the challenges in new product launches. With the understanding that many products offer only a stagnant return on investment, Wiesman pointed out DDN has played a partnership role in hundreds of successful launches to date.

“In life science, the next generation of life-changing drugs can take months, and even years to research and develop,” Wiesman said. “DDN recognized a need to be closely involved in acting as a partner in bringing products to market. One of our innovations is the use of ‘Launch Architects’ that guide companies through the launch of their products and beyond, to sustained levels of growth. This focus leads to increased efficiencies and decreases in the amount of time it takes to launch a product.”
