Chairman and CEO Don Weber announced Wednesday LHI will start construction early next year on a third Riverside Center building in downtown La Crosse.
The building will provide additional office space for LHI, and house additional businesses. Work will be completed by early 2010 on the Riverside Center III building, which will be east of and across Front Street from his second building, Weber told the La Crosse Tribune.
Weber also said more than 1,000 people will be working in the first two Riverside Center buildings by the end of this year. More than 2,000 people will be working in the three buildings two years from now.
LHI provides health monitoring and logistics services to government and private sector companies. The company recently won an $11 million contract to treat some of those workers who responded to New York’s ground zero.
The first two buildings along the Mississippi River created some controversy because some people felt they blocked views of the river, and a planned ballroom could take conference business away from the publicly-funded La Crosse Center. But, those controversies have died down as LHI continues to expand and add employees.
