RMT Becomes Founding Reporter of The Climate Registry

Industry leader takes action on climate change

MADISON, Wis., June 4 /PRNewswire/ — RMT, Inc. has recently become a Founding Reporter of The Climate Registry by being among the first to join the organization. The Climate Registry is a non-profit organization established to measure and publicly report greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions in a common, accurate, and transparent manner consistent across industries and borders.

“RMT has demonstrated exemplary environmental leadership by courageously stepping forward to support The Climate Registry in its preliminary stages,” said Gina McCarthy, Chair of The Climate Registry. “We are deeply grateful for their integral support in helping to address the challenge of climate change.”

RMT has voluntarily agreed to measure, independently verify, and publicly report their GHG emissions on an annual basis using The Climate Registry General Reporting Protocol. The protocol is based on the internationally recognized GHG measurement standards of the World Resources Institute and World Business Council on Sustainability.

“RMT is committed to raising the level of sustainability awareness throughout our entire organization and doing what we can to minimize our long-term environmental impact,” said Sarah Burton, Sustainable Development Director for RMT. “In our business, we help clients execute projects every day to protect the environment, enhance their communities, and help them become more sustainable organizations. Becoming a Founding Reporter of The Climate Registry is a significant demonstration of RMT’s dedication to our own environmental stewardship.”

The founders of The Climate Registry include 39 U.S. states, eight Canadian provinces, three Native American tribes, six Mexican states, and the District of Columbia. Corporations, government entities, and non-profit organizations that joined before May 2008 were eligible to receive Founding Reporter status.
