MADISON- Wisconsin companies may now begin preparing proposals to submit as
part of the National Institute of Standards and Technology’s Advanced
Technology Program (ATP) Competition. The deadline for submission is April
14. Approximately $60.7 million is available for new awards.

“The awards from this program are a primary source of R&D capital
for visionary, high-technology businesses that will have an impact across
several industrial and social sectors,” Department of Commerce (Commerce)
Secretary Cory L. Nettles said.

Proposals in all technology areas are welcome. All U.S.-owned for-profit
companies and industry-led joint ventures are eligible to submit proposals.
The ATP supports projects that industry cannot fully fund on its own because
of significant technical risks. ATP awards are made on the basis of rigorous
competitive peer review considering scientific and technical merit of each
proposal. In addition, awards are based on the potential for broad based
economic benefits; the need for ATP funding; and evidence of a clear
commercialization pathway and broad diffusion.
