Stratford, Wisconsin – (April 29, 2008) – Bob Kulp, a businessman from Stratford, Wis., has been named to the U.S. Small Business Administration’s Region V Regulatory Fairness Board.
Kulp was appointed to the board by Nicholas Owens, National Ombudsman and Assistant Administrator for Regulatory Enforcement Fairness at the SBA (www.sba.gov).
In acting as an advisor to Owens along with other appointed board members, Kulp will serve a three-year term that will end in January 2011.
Kulp is the founder and majority owner of Kulp’s of Stratford (www.kulproof.com), a steep and low slope commercial and residential roofing and insulation company based in Stratford.
According to Kulp, he will be working closely with other members of the Regulatory Fairness Board in addressing the 10 government regulations that most adversely impact small businesses.
“Our goal is to bring attention to these regulations and to support Congressional action that resolves them so small businesses can operate more effectively,” Kulp said.
Kulp is past president of the Wausau Chapter of the Construction Specifications Institute (www.csinet.org) and is a director of the National Roofing Contractors Association (www.nrca.net), currently serving a three-year term.
In addition, he serves on several NRCA committees, including the Steep-Slope Task Force, the Metal Roofing Task Force and the ARMA/NRCA Shingle Quality Control Task Force, and he is the chairman of the Government Relations Committee.
Kulp is also director of the Stratford Area Chamber of Commerce.
As a member of the Region V Regulatory Fairness Board, Kulp and the other board members will be working under the direction of the Office of the National Ombudsman of the U.S. Small Business Administration.
There are 10 Small Business Regulatory Fairness Boards across the country, and each board is comprised of five volunteer small business owners. The boards serve as a point of contact for small businesses about instances of excessive or unfair regulatory enforcement.
The boards and the Office of the National Ombudsman were created in 1996 by Congress as part of the Small Business Regulatory Enforcement Fairness Act.
