Knupp & Watson Wins Gold Award at Regional ADDY Award Competition

Madison Agency Wins One Gold and Two Silvers Before Heading to Nationals



MADISON, Wis. April 1, 2008 – Knupp & Watson, a Madison-based advertising, marketing and public relations agency, was awarded a Gold ADDY award and two Silver ADDY awards at the 8th District regional competition. The Gold ADDY-winning submittal will now be entered in the national ADDY competition.


The ADDY competition, conducted by the American Advertising Federation (AAF), recognizes winners from more than 60,000 entries each year for their local, regional and national awards.  The 8th District of the AAF encompasses four states and includes the Milwaukee, Madison and Minneapolis metropolitan areas, and is considered one of the premier regions for new work in advertising.


Competing against strong agencies in the Minneapolis and Milwaukee ad markets, Knupp & Watson took home a Gold ADDY award for its public service TV campaign created for Madison non-profit, Porchlight. The agency used powerful, emotive visuals to capture the mission of the organization, which earned it the single best public service TV spot in four states.


The award-winning campaign was created within just 24 hours at the Knupp & Watson’s annual Goodstock event, a 24-hour marathon of “Love and Advertising,” at which 13 local non-profit groups receive free advertising, marketing, donated media space and public relations aid.

The key message at the end of these TV spots, where the word ‘homeless’ split into the text, ‘More homes less shelters,’ really arrested viewers when we presented the campaign at Goodstock.”

As a Gold ADDY recipient, Knupp & Watson’s Porchlight TV campaign will move on to the national level, where it will compete against submissions from agencies represented by AAF’s 200 advertising clubs throughout the country.


Knupp & Watson was recognized with two Silver ADDY awards: the first was for its spring campaign, “Goodwill is Good.”  The agency was also honored for the multi-season Goodwill campaign which included black and white ads running throughout the year.
