Johnson Controls Receives U.S. Department of Commerce Export Achievement Award

Company honored for exceeding government-established guidelines

MILWAUKEE, Feb. 14 /PRNewswire/ — Johnson Controls, (NYSE:JCI) , the global, multi-industrial leader in creating smart environments, received the United States Department of Commerce Export Achievement Award.

The company, a member of the International District Energy Association (IDEA) was honored with the award at the association’s annual Campus Energy Conference held yesterday in Boston. Accepting the award on behalf of Johnson Controls was Anwar Hassan, vice president of Industrial Products and Joseph Brillhart, service branch manager based in Manhattan, NY.

The Export Achievement Award recognizes Johnson Controls’ successes in use of the Commerce Department’s exporting services to win district cooling contracts in the Middle East, particularly the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia.

Johnson Controls recently signed a contract to supply Qatar Cool, the district cooling authority for the Pearl Island of Qatar in the Arabian Gulf, with 52 water-cooled chiller units. Tabreed, one of the largest district cooling companies in the world, awarded the company a contract for 27, 2,500-ton York-brand centrifugal water-cooled chillers. The chillers will be used in four plants located in Abu Dhabi and in Ajman, UAE. Another major Johnson Controls customer, Burj Dubai, the largest district cooling plant in the Burj Dubai development, which includes the world’s tallest building, will receive 24 chiller units.
