Mark Bugher Is New Greater Madison Chamber of Commerce Board Chair

(MADISON, WI) Mark Bugher, Director of University Research Park, stepped into his new role as Board Chair of the Greater Madison Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors this morning as he led the Chamber’s first Board of Directors meeting of 2008. He will serve as GMCC Board Chair through December 2009.


 


A prominent, longtime business and community leader, Bugher became the Director of University Research Park in the fall of 1999. He manages and directs all activities for the enterprise, a 515-acre research park owned and operated by the University of Wisconsin–Madison.

Mark Bugher also chairs the Wisconsin Technology Council and the Marshfield Clinic Advisory Board. He serves on the First Business Financial Services Board and Wisconsin Taxpayers Alliance Board. A native of Eau Claire, Wisconsin, Bugher is a recent Past Chair of the city of Madison’s Economic Development Commission and was appointed to the Governor’s Task Force on Educational Excellence by Wisconsin Governor Jim Doyle in 2003.


 


In 1996 he was appointed by Governor Tommy G. Thompson to serve as Secretary of the Department of Administration (DOA). Prior to his DOA appointment, Mark served as Secretary of Revenue (DOR) beginning in October 1988. Before joining the Thompson Administration, Mark was home secretary for U.S. Congressman Steven C. Gunderson in Wisconsin’s Third Congressional District.
