Hundreds Attend Annual New North Summit

SHEBOYGAN, December 14, 2007 – Over 600 business and community leaders from throughout Northeast Wisconsin attended the 2007 New North Summit at the Blue Harbor Resort in Sheboygan on Friday.

“Today’s Summit was a great success, and the huge number of participants speaks to the involvement and devotion of business leaders from throughout the region,” said Jerry Murphy, Executive Director of the New North, Inc.

The Summit offered attendees an opportunity to hear updates on the progress of New North, Inc., and attend breakout sessions on attracting and retaining talent in the region.

Approximately 40 people were able to watch the Summit online, which for the first time was streamed live and available to people throughout the country using Sonic Foundry’s patented Mediasite® technology.

Governor Doyle addressed the crowd early in the day, and discussed his agenda for moving Wisconsin forward and growing the state’s economy.  Ed Gordon, Author of The 2010 Meltdown: Solving the Impending Jobs Crisis, gave the keynote address, providing a wealth of information to the attendees regarding the attraction and retention of talented employees.

“We will continue keeping the region’s business and community leaders posted on our progress, and we look forward to continuing to grow the regional economy and demonstrate why the New North is one of the best places in the country to live, work, and raise a family,” Murphy said.
