The First Business Invitational for charity features local business leaders competing for a local charity of their choice. The event was designed with two-person teams competing in a best ball format. First Business Bank covers 100 percent of the event costs.

“For the past eight years, we’ve been very proud of this event and the important awareness and financial support it provides to nonprofits,” said JimHartlieb, President of First Business Bank. “The competition is fierce among local businesses and leaders who participate, but they are just as passionate about their chosen charities.”

“Winning the top $25,000 prize of the 2018 First Business Invitational for Charity is an incredible gift,” said Heather Garrison, Development Program Manager. “Many thanks to our GAC golfers, Tim Cleary and Jeff Beckmann, along with First Business and all the invitational sponsors for making this happen. We’re thrilled to receive this donation and put it to work in the fight against cancer. All Garding Against Cancer funding stays right here in Wisconsin for cancer research and patient care.”

Tim Cleary, Executive Vice President of Ideal Builders, said his winning team chose Garding Against Cancer because so many members of his family have been affected by the disease. “Today’s event was spectacular and, quite frankly, very emotional,” Cleary said. “To have had – and currently have – close family members who have recently passed away or are currently battling cancer made today’s event and cause so personally significant. I’m so blessed to have alignment between my roles with the Executive Committee and Advisory Board for the Carbone Cancer Center partnering with the work that Garding Against Cancer is doing makes today’s event incredibly meaningful, powerful and moving.”

The First Business Invitational for Charity was created in 2011 by First Business Bank, and has raised more than $300,000 for nonprofits. First Business Bank funds 100 percent of the event costs, allowing all of the donations to go to winning charities.
