Milwaukee, WI, March 16, 2018 – Allison Pfeifer and Emily Thomas of Eppstein Uhen Architects (EUA) received Gold and Silver Awards, at the Wisconsin Chapter of American Society of Interior Designers’ (ASID) 42nd Annual Design Excellence Awards. The event, held on March 8th at Discovery World in Milwaukee, celebrated the most outstanding interior design projects in Wisconsin across several categories including commercial, residential and student awards. Winning projects are recognized with Platinum, Gold, Silver or Bronze Design Excellence Awards.

EUA received a Gold Award in the Office/Corporate category, recognizing the exceptional design work completed for a financial client’s new office in the heart of Chicago’s West Loop Submarket. With a goal to aesthetically reflect the client’s brand, the design exudes simple elegance befitting the global business through the use of high quality finishes, warm wood accents and luxurious furniture selections. A linear, slat ceiling element carried through the reception area and main conference room draws attention to panoramic city views and welcomes visitors into the space.

Silver Awards were given for EUA projects in the Office/Corporate and Education K-12 categories. The renovation of a financial industry client’s IT office in Milwaukee was recognized for its innovative design that reinforces the client’s brand while reflecting the type of work happening inside. Pixel units of color from computer displays inspired the aesthetic, providing a modern look and feel. Collaboration “cubes,” booth seating and private nooks with lounge furniture provide employees additional options for private work and group meetings.

The design of the Waunakee Community Intermediate School drew inspiration from the heritage of the area and was recognized for its forward-looking flexible planning and integration of colors, textures and patterns emulating the surrounding farmland. Flexible furniture gives students the ability to form different group learning spaces, while the structure allows for future repurposing as education evolves. A variety of environmental graphics throughout the building create identity and a special sense of belonging and purpose for students.
