Appleton Housing Authority: Hires new first-time homebuyer program manager

APPLETON, WI – The Appleton Housing Authority (AHA) is pleased to welcome Nicole Lemke as its new First-time Homebuyer Program Manager.

In her new role, Lemke is responsible for managing all aspects of the AHA’s Homebuyer Program. Her key duties include: coodinating and conducting educational homebuying classes for eligible first-time homebuyers in Outagamie and Calumet Counties; verifying and processing client eligibility; determining the eligibility of loans, properties, down payment and rehab costs; communication with prospective and active homebuyer program lenders; conducting periodic inspections of perspective and participating first-time homebuyer properties to insure the fulfillment of governmental housing codes and regulations; completion of all related home purchase contracts and documents; and ongoing work with licensed contactors to obtain home rehabilitation bids for review with qualifying first-time homebuyers participating in the AHA program.

Lemke is a graduate of Luther College in Decorah, Iowa, and holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication/Linguistics & Spanish.  She earned her Master of Arts degree in Communication from Abilene Christian University in Abilene Texas, in 2006. Lemke brings many years of experience working in compliance with U.S. Department of Housing & Urban Development (HUD) and Community Block Grants (CDBG) programs, as well as expertise working with diverse populations and training in National Fair Housing Alliance (NFHA) and HUD Fair Housing best practices to her new position.  

The AHA is the largest provider of affordable housing options in the Appleton area, serving over 900 families per month.  The agency has operated rental housing, homeownership and family self-sufficiency programs along with other key housing-related programs in the Appleton community for over 49 years.     

The AHA’s non-profit Neighborhood Housing, Inc. (NHI) organization is committed to affordable housing and the self-sufficiency of families, elderly, veterans and disabled individuals in the Fox Cities. NHI’s successful partnership with the Appleton Area School District (AASD), annually brings students from Appleton East, North and West High Schools together to build a new, affordable home for area families in need of an affordable residence.
