Washington, DC (September 15, 2016) – The National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB), the nation’s leading advocate for small businesses, today awarded Senator Ron Johnson (R-WI) with its biennial Guardian of Small Business Award for his outstanding support of America’s small business owners in the 114th Congress.

“Ron Johnson has been a staunch defender of Wisconsin small businesses during his service in the Senate,” said NFIB President and CEO Juanita Duggan. “As an NFIB member, he knows firsthand what it takes to run a business and the obstacles to success created by the federal government. He has a perfect lifetime voting record with NFIB, and we hope he has a long career in the Senate working for small business owners. “

The Guardian of Small Business is NFIB’s most prestigious award. It is reserved for lawmakers who vote consistently with NFIB on the key issues identified by small business owners. NFIB tracks the votes of every member of Congress. House members and Senators who vote with NFIB members at least 70 percent of the time are eligible for the Guardian Award.

Sen. Johnson has won the Guardian award three times in his career in the Senate and has a 100 percent lifetime voting record. His opponent in the 2016 Senate race, Russ Feingold, had a 21 percent lifetime voting record during his two terms in office.

“Wisconsin small business owners have a clear choice in 2016,” Duggan said. “They hope that Ron Johnson will be back in the Senate next year working to defend free enterprise.”
