In addition, U.S. News named Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, the best hospital in the nation and awarded the facility more No. 1 specialty rankings than any other hospital in the country. Mayo Clinic hospitals in Eau Claire and La Crosse, Wisconsin; Mankato and Rochester, Minnesota; and Arizona and Florida earned the top-tier High Performing distinction in Procedures & Conditions ratings (formerly Common Care ratings), contributing significantly to the latest ratings by U.S. News & World Report Best Hospitals.

Mayo Clinic took the No. 1 spots in Arizona, Florida and Minnesota. It also ranked No. 1 in the Phoenix and Jacksonville metro areas.

Mayo Clinic is part of a select group on the U.S. News Honor Roll recognized for “breadth of excellence,” according to the magazine. To make the Honor Roll, a medical center must rank at or near the top in at least six of 16 specialties.

Mayo Clinic was first overall in the magazine’s annual honor roll ranking of its Best Hospitals list and was ranked No. 1 in eight specialties on the 2015-16 Honor Roll including: diabetes and endocrinology; gastroenterology and GI surgery; geriatrics; gynecology;nephrology; neurology and neurosurgery; pulmonology; and urology.

Mayo Clinic has more No. 1 rankings than any other provider based on factors, such as reputation, mortality index, patient safety, nurse staffing and Magnet status, patient services and technology. Each Mayo Clinic physician, scientist, researcher and educator works together in a team-based model to deliver the highest standards of care and transform scientific discoveries into critical advances for unmet patient needs.

U.S. News & World Report is one of many ranking groups that recognize Mayo Clinic as a top choice for patients — ranked for quality more often than any other academic medical center in the nation.

“We are honored to be recognized in this way, as it reflects the tremendous work of our staff every day in caring for our patients and their families,” says John Noseworthy, M.D., president and CEO of Mayo Clinic. “This ranking is a testament to the dedication and excellence of all of our Mayo Clinic staff.”

Mayo Clinic’s commitment to quality and collaboration dates back 150 years when the Mayo brothers invented the team-based approach to medicine — an approach that is continuously refined over time. Then and now, Mayo Clinic’s world-class experts work extremely closely across specialties to provide comprehensive and coordinated care for patients with the most serious and complex conditions.

Many outside agencies rate quality in health care, and Mayo Clinic is the only health care organization that consistently ranks among the top providers nationwide, regardless of the quality measure used.

This is the 27th year that U.S. News & World Report conducted a rankings list, which encompasses 16 medical specialties. U.S. News analyzes data for 5,000 medical centers to determine the rankings.
