After success in Wisconsin, gener8tor opening Minneapolis office

gener8tor is expanding its nationally-ranked startup mentoring program into Minneapolis.

The accelerator has seen success in its Madison and Milwaukee locations, with its 42 startup graduates raising more than $75 million and adding more than 400 jobs. Those numbers helped gener8tor land in the Seed Accelerator Rankings Project’s gold tier the past two years.

The accelerator will offer both its main 12-week program and a newer six-week program it launched last year aimed at companies with college ties.

The latter program, called gBETA, is expected to launch in Minnesota this fall, while the main gener8tor program will kick off early next year.

Mark McGuire, a University of Minnesota Law School grad, will oversee gener8tor’s Minnesota operations and is now a managing director of the accelerator. McGuire, who co-founded NameProtect.com, Alice.com and Jellyfish.com, was an entrepreneur-in-residence at American Family Ventures, the venture capital arm of American Family Insurance.

“There is a tremendous amount of startup velocity and energy here, and I’m excited to add our nationally ranked programming into the mix,” McGuire said.
