WisDOT Contracts To Go Paperless Using Aurigo Masterworks Capital Program Management System Over the Cloud

MADISON, Wis. and AUSTIN, Texas — Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) is giving its paper-based contracts processes its marching papers. WisDOT has signed a multi-year deal with leading capital program and project portfolio management software vendor, Aurigo Software Technologies, to automate and manage its entire consultant contracting process from creation to closeout.

As part of WisDOT Division of Transportation and Systems Development, the Bureau of Project Development (BPD) oversees engineering for the design and construction of Wisconsin’s state highway system, which carries over 35 billion vehicle miles of travel a year.

BPD currently uses a paper-intensive process that will be automated by Aurigo Masterworks. Delivered over the cloud and integrated with WisDOT’s existing programs, including financial management system Oracle PeopleSoft and CARS, Aurigo Masterworks will streamline contract solicitation, selection, development, execution, and tracking, in addition to the reporting mandated by the Federal Highway Administration.

Aurigo was selected over SciQuest, CDW-G, Birlasoft and BidSync, vendors with third-party IP solutions. Aurigo uses no third party IP and scored the highest on criteria that evaluated technology, support, training, security, document management, and experience with e-contracting with similar-sized organizations. Aurigo’s North American state government customers include Oregon, Utah, and Colorado Departments of Transportation, plus the Ministry of Transportation, Ontario, for which Aurigo also provides web-based contract management services.

Over the last decade, technology — from personal technology to medicine to space travel — has advanced at unprecedented speed. So, too, has capital program management technology. More public sector agencies are upgrading their legacy systems to modern project management systems, a trend that will pay big dividends in efficiency.

“Increasingly, state departments of transportation are finding that managing the consultant contract lifecycle is significantly less cumbersome when it’s delivered with Aurigo Masterworks — over the cloud, fully automated, with advanced project controls. We are excited to transition WisDOT to a paperless contracting system that will save the state of Wisconsin time and money. The entire solution is being delivered over the cloud, with the option to extend the Aurigo solution in the future to include capital planning, right of way management and other facets of its CIP program,” said Balaji Sreenivasan, Chief Executive Officer of Aurigo Software Technologies.
