JANESVILLE, WI – Hufcor Foundation, the philanthropic arm of Janesville manufacturer Hufcor, Inc., donated $5,000 to the Blackhawk Technical College Foundation last week for immediate use in assisting Blackhawk Technical College students with emergency needs such as educational testing, transportation expenses, housing expenses and utilities.
The generous gift demonstrates Hufcor Foundation’s commitment to BTC and both organizations aim to not let personal economic emergencies keep a student from continuing his or her education. Together, BTC and Hufcor strive to assist students through difficult times in order for them to successfully enter the work force.
Blackhawk students must have a grade point average of 2.5, a completed Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and carrying at least three credits to qualify for a Hufcor Emergency Assistance Award. Students also are required to meet with a Blackhawk retention specialist.
Students must show documentation of an immediate financial need and are eligible to receive a one-time payment of up to $250, $500 annually or $1,000 over the course of their college careers. First-year students receive an award of $100.
