Works by German artist on two levels

Thelma Sadoff Center for the Arts (THELMA) announced today the opening of an exhibit that highlights the global work of Michels Corporation. The exhibit by German-based artist H.D. Tylle will be featured on both levels of THELMA’s Contemporary Wing from October 30 to January 11.

The exhibit, Menschen bei der Arbeit, which is German for People at Work, depicts various projects completed by Michels Corporation.

Tylle captures scenes in workplaces that few artists, or members of the general public, for that matter have visited. He has immortalized factory scenes and individual laborers, underscoring the importance of America’s shrinking industrial base.

“Michels Corporation was introduced to Tylle by Kondex Corporation in Lomira,”said Tim Michels, owner and vice president of Michels Corporation. “After viewing Tylle’s work, it was obvious that he had a great talent for capturing “people at work”. We believed that having him paint some of our jobsites and people would be a fabulous way to memorialize and highlight Michels’ work. Most importantly, he showcases the hard working people of Michels Corporation by bringing them to life in his paintings,” Michels said.

Tylle has said that he hopes, through his art, to reach people who are involved in art but don’t know about working circumstances, and people working in factories who are normally not involved in art.

“THELMA is honored that Michels Corporation would share these special paintings with our community, said Kevin Miller, THELMA Executive Director. “Tylle’s work is internationally recognized and certainly highlights the work ethic of the citizens of the Fond du Lac area.”

THELMA’s Contemporary Wing is open 10 am to 5 pm, Monday through Saturday and until 8 pm the first Thursday of every month for THELMA Thursday. Admission is free. THELMA is located at 51 Sheboygan St., in the heart of Downtown Fond du Lac’s Arts and Entertainment District.

THELMA is a member-based, privately-funded non-profit dedicated to providing experiences not readily available in the area. Intimate concerts in the Great Hall, street concerts, films, and art from world-renowned artists are available at THELMA. THELMA also offers a stunning backdrop for weddings, meetings and all social and corporate gatherings.
