Randy Ziebarth achieves Universal Design Certified Remodeler status

Blue Mounds, December 22, 2010 – JG Development, Inc. is pleased to announce that Randy Ziebarth has recently achieved the prestigious Universal Design Certified Remodeler status. A Universal Design Certified Remodeler (UDCR) designation proves the remodeling contractor’s superior knowledge, technical comprehension and skill in universal remodeling.

“Today more than ever people are living longer and most people want to continue to live in their own homes. Another phenomenon is that more generations are moving back together, therefore we see the need for building, remodeling and adapting homes to help all generations live together comfortably, safely and with style. It is for this reason that I felt it important for myself and our company to be on the leading edge of Universal Design. We are now able to educate and assist our clients in designing spaces that accommodate all of their needs regardless of age, size or physical abilities,” stated Randy.

The National Association of the Remodeling Industry’s (NARI) UDCR program measures skill and expertise valued not only by other professional remodelers, but by consumers as well. Highly respected by those who have achieved the designation, the UDCR program identifies professional remodelers who have undergone comprehensive review and testing in areas of universal remodeling. In addition, they must also adhere to NARI’s strict Standards of Practice and Code of Ethics. The NARI certification program assess the knowledge and skills of the Universal Design Remodeler in the seven principles of universal design, client needs assessment, construction process required to support installation of related components, and the trades associated with universal remodeling. Attaining this certification requires the candidate to have been working full time in the remodeling field for at least 5 years and passing a comprehensive assessment exam. Preparation for this exam requires intensive study and self-examination. In addition Universal Design Certified Remodelers, are bound to abide by the NARI Code of Ethics and the NARI Standards of Practice.

To prepare for the Universal Design Certified Remodeler certification, remodelers are asked to complete a comprehensive application, which outlines the background of their experience and education in universal remodeling.
