MADISON, Wis. (December 21, 2010) — The national law firm of Quarles & Brady LLP announced that Freya K. Bowen, an associate in the Firm’s Madison office, has been elected to the board of directors of the Henry Vilas Park Zoological Society.

Ms. Bowen is a member of the Firm’s Commercial Litigation and Appellate Litigation Groups. She has represented clients in the Wisconsin Supreme Court and Court of Appeals, the U.S. Courts of Appeals for the Seventh and Eleventh Circuits, and the California Court of Appeals. She earned her bachelor’s degree, summa cum laude, from San Diego State University, her Ph.D in English from the University of California, Berkeley, and her law degree, order of the coif, from the University of California, Berkeley School of Law. Following law school, she clerked for the Honorable Sidney R. Thomas of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit.

The Henry Vilas Park Zoological Society has been the Zoo’s member-supported fundraising organization since 1914. The Society promotes the Zoo’s mission to conserve and protect the wonders of the living natural world, to build an understanding by people of animals by promoting conservation, and to provide high quality recreational and educational experiences to over 500,000 annual visitors. Annual fund raising revenue is used to support capital improvements or maintenance projects at the Henry Vilas Zoo.
