FOND DU LAC, Wis. — Steven R. DiSalvo, Ph.D., will be inaugurated on October 23 as Marian University’s fourteenth president.

The inauguration weekend will begin on Saturday afternoon, with an Inauguration Liturgy starting at 1 p.m. in Dorcas Chapel. The Investiture Ceremony will begin at 3 p.m. in the Howard L. Sadoff Memorial Gymnasium.

Immediately following the Investiture Ceremony, at approximately 4:30 p.m., a special historic stitching ceremony of the National 9/11 Flag will be held in the Quad, with the rain site being in the University’s Dorcas Chapel. Damaged in the collapse of the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001, the National 9/11 Flag is making one visit to each state across the country, where local service heroes will be given the privilege of stitching the flag back to its original 13-stripe format before it makes its final home at the National September 11 Memorial Museum.

“It is an honor to be inducted as Marian’s fourteenth president and I am committed to the deep-rooted Catholic values of Marian University,” said Dr. Steven DiSalvo. “To share this day with the National 9/11 Flag is a privilege because of my assistance in the implementation of The New York Says Thank You Foundation.”

Dr. DiSalvo has extensive experience at several higher education institutions, including his service at Loyola University in Chicago, Fairfield University in Fairfield, Conn. and Fordham University in New York.

Dr. DiSalvo also has served in a variety of leadership positions with non-profit and for-profit organizations, including The Hopewell Group, Inc., the Joe Torre Safe at Home Foundation and Junior Achievement of New York, Inc.

Dr. Steven DiSalvo completed a Ph.D. in educational leadership at Fordham University where he also earned an M.B.A. in marketing and B.S. in psychology.

The stitching ceremony is open to the public. For more information, please contact the Office of University Relations at universityrelations@marianuniversity.eduuniversityrelations@marianuniversity.edu> or 920-923-7602.

Marian University is a Catholic university in the Agnesian tradition. Founded in 1936 by the Congregation of Sisters of St. Agnes and based in Fond du Lac, Wis., the University lives its core values as a community committed to learning, dedicated to service and social justice, and joined together by spiritual traditions. An applied liberal arts institution, Marian offers more than 50 undergraduate and graduate programs at its main campus and a variety of adult accelerated, master’s and doctoral degree programs in facilities throughout Wisconsin. The size of the university permits a very favorable student-faculty ratio, one of the lowest among Wisconsin campuses.
