MADISON – The Public Service Commission of Wisconsin (PSC) and the Office of the Commissioner of Railroads (OCR) will be closed on Monday, October 11, 2010 as employees take one of their 16 required furlough days. The PSC and the OCR will resume regular business hours on Tuesday, October 12, following the observance of Columbus Day.

Consumers requiring assistance with electric, natural gas, telephone, and water service disputes may file complaints online at http://psc.wi.gov/apps35/complaint/default.aspx during this time. The PSC Consumer Affairs telephone line, 1-800-225-7729, which offers live assistance, will be available on October 12.

Employee furloughs for all state employees are part of the 2009 – 2011 state budget. The furlough program temporarily reduces salary costs by assigning employees to various dates or periods of unpaid time during what would otherwise have been scheduled work time.
