MADISON—Governor Jim Doyle today announced that the Indianhead Community Action Agency (ICAA), on behalf of Rusk County, has received a $346,000 grant from the Community Development Block Grant-Public Facilities (CDBG-PF) program of the Department of Commerce (Commerce). The agency will purchase and renovate two buildings in the City of Ladysmith in order to expand its operations.

“Maintaining public resources is critical to moving our economy forward,” Governor Doyle said. “I am pleased to support Indianhead Community Action Agency and their work to ensure that Wisconsin is a great place to live and work.”

The ICAA will purchase a local vacant store to expand the Rusk County Community Services Center, which will house a food pantry, resale store, and outreach programs for low-income families. The agency will also purchase another vacant building to house additional programs for low-income families and to serve as ICAA’s administrative offices. Total project cost is $874,750.

CDBG-PF grants play an important role in helping communities finance a wide range of projects designed to enhance the economic vitality of the community through the provision of community infrastructure, the expansion of tax base, job creation, and increased private investment in downtowns.
