Knabe’s recent accomplishments highlight Savant’s unique expertise

Madison, WI (September 21, 2010) – Savant Capital Management, a nationally recognized fee-only wealth management with offices in Madison , today announced that financial advisor Dr. Brian Knabe recently earned several professional designations and authorship recognitions. The accomplishments further underscore Savant’s unique expertise to provide world-class financial planning and investment advice to clients.

A medical doctor-turned financial advisor at Savant Capital Management, Dr. Knabe has been with the firm since 2007. He utilizes his experience from the medical field as he works with clients, advisors, portfolio managers, and planners to develop comprehensive planning, investment, and tax strategies for professionals.

Designations Earned

Dr. Knabe recently earned his Certified Medical Planner (CMP) professional designation. The CMP program imparts the healthcare industrial complex specificity – physician focused financial planning knowledge – and integrated medical practice management expertise that is needed to help devise solutions and raise the bar of advisory competence for all those serving medical professionals.

He also recently earned his Certified Financial Planner designation. According to the CFP Board of Standards, Inc., CFP® certificants must pass the comprehensive CFP® Certification Examination, pass CFP Board’s Candidate Fitness Standards, agree to abide by CFP Board’s Code of Ethics and Professional Responsibility which puts clients’ interests first, and comply with the Financial Planning Practice Standards which spell out what clients should be able to reasonably expect from the financial planning engagement. To become certified, applicants must complete the “4 E’s” – Education, Examination, Experience and Ethics.

Dr. Knabe also was designated as a Fellow of the American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP). Fellows of the AAFP are recognized as Champions of Family Medicine for their advancement of health care to the American people and their professional development through medical education and research. >From a personal perspective, being a Fellow signifies one’s additional work in their community within organized medicine, within teaching, and a greater commitment to continuing professional development and/or research. Dr. Knabe will receive his official designation at a convocation ceremony at the annual AAFP meeting in Denver later this month.

Authorship Recognition

Dr. Knabe also co-authored a chapter in the latest edition of The Business of Medical Practice. The focus of the chapter is regarding physician compensation. Additionally, he has co-authored a chapter in another book entitled “Adventures in Medicine: The Resident’s Guide to Life and Practice” which is designed for use by graduating medical residents as they embark on their careers.

Dr. Knabe continues to practice medicine and teach courses at the University of Illinois where he is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Family Medicine. He is a magna cum laude graduate of Marquette University with an honors degree in biomedical engineering. He earned his medical degree from the University of Illinois College of Medicine. Dr. Knabe also attended the University of Illinois for his family practice residency, where he served as chief resident.
