– Kari Heinrich appointed to solar energy board –

MADISON, Wis. (August 16, 2008) – Wisconsin Energy Conservation Corporation (WECC), a national leader in the design and implementation of award-winning energy savings programs, announces the appointment of Kari Heinrich to the Solar Rating and Certification Corporation (SRCC) board. This position will allow Heinrich to apply her extensive knowledge of solar energy to help execute certification programs and national rating standards for solar energy equipment.

As a member of the board, Heinrich, a Program Manager for WECC, will assist in making the SRCC services more responsive to the industry and more consumer-friendly for those interested in comparing the performance and durability of available solar thermal collectors and systems.

SRCC is the only national certification program established solely for solar energy projects. It is also the only national certification organization whose programs are the direct result of combined efforts of state organizations involved in the administration of standards and an industry association.

Heinrich brings a wealth of solar hot-water technology experience to the SRCC board, with over 7 years of experience developing and managing solar hot-water programs for Focus on Energy, Wisconsin’s statewide program for energy efficiency and renewable energy, as well as providing expert advice on program design and implementation to utilities and governmental entities across the United States.

“Over the years I’ve been fortunate to have the opportunity to develop an extensive understanding of solar hot-water technology and its application, as well as market strategies and best practices,” said Heinrich. “I’m excited about the opportunity to lend my expertise to the Solar Rating and Certification Corporation to help the continued development and promotion of the viability of solar-energy equipment.”

In addition to her newly appointed position with the SRCC, Heinrich is involved in the Department of Energy’s Solar City initiative for both Milwaukee and Madison; she serves on the Solar Hot Water Business Council’s development committee in Milwaukee; and is the chair of the Focus Solar Hot Water Technical Advisory Committee providing input to the Focus on Energy program about technical aspects of solar thermal installations in the cold Wisconsin climate. Heinrich was also involved in the development of the “Solar for Humanity” program which offers hands-on installation training and solar thermal installations on dozens of Habitat for Humanity homes.
