Building Excitement For 65 Years!

WAUKESHA, WI (July 27, 2010) – The 2010 Metropolitan Builders Association (MBA) Parade of Homes is not just celebrating its 65th anniversary this year, it’s also celebrating a thrilling variety of innovative and intriguing trends showcased in many of its 22 must-see homes.

“This year’s Parade of Homes is a dynamic combination of noteworthy nostalgia and novel new trends,” said Rick Hodges, MBA Executive Director.

A sample of this year’s trends include:

*New “Wind Wall” screenless technology that allows air conditioning or heating of an open front porch without any windows or screens and keeps out bugs

*A new technology for advanced insulation and air sealing delivering the energy savings home buyers are looking for, plus safe to install, economy and productivity benefits for builders

*An induction cooktop that can boil a full pot of water in under 60 seconds and is cool to the touch seconds after the pot is removed and the system is shut down

*A sunken backyard patio that can be flooded with up to 14 inches of water to keep guests’ feet cooled or be used as a wading pool and, within minutes, be dried out for normal patio use

*Geothermal heating and cooling uses the ground around your home to heat and cool your house. This method of heating and cooling reduces your overall energy consumption in your home by 40-60 percent and is 400% more efficient than a traditional HVAC unit. The government’s generous tax credits can also lower the initial cost for the homeowner.

*A whirlpool tub where water pours down from a spout in the ceiling rather than a fixture on the tub

“Every year the home builders deliver captivating ideas that excite and educate consumers,” said Hodges. “This year is no exception.”

Featuring 18 of Southeastern Wisconsin’s most experienced home builders, The Parade of Homes starts Saturday, August 21st and ends Sunday, September 12th. It is open to the public and the purchase of one Parade ticket allows entry into all 22 homes dispersed across three convenient Southeastern Wisconsin locations – Pewaukee (Broken Hill subdivision), Oak Creek (The Bluffs of Oak Creek subdivision) and Richfield (Reflections Village subdivision).
