Shivashish, a native Indian who worked for one of India’s largest BPO’s for over 5 years, knows the inside dealings of the BPO industry and advises clients to spend time getting to know their vendor. “There is a lot to know about choosing an outsourcing vendor. It’s not something you want to rush into. Culture plays a big role in the way these businesses operate, and if you go into it not paying attention to that aspect, you’re setting yourself up to fail.”
Business partner and wife, Kerri, also knows all too well the possible pitfalls of outsourcing. Having worked as a manager for multiple Fortune 100 Insurance companies and managing vendor relationships, she also advises companies to take their time. “It can be a very beneficial and rewarding relationship, but you have to know what you’re getting into. The problem that I see is companies jumping in too fast and then wondering why they are not getting the results they expected. It’s a complicated business, and with India, it’s a complicated culture and you have to be willing and able to spend the time to develop the relationship in a proper way.”
Shivashish and Kerri decided to open their consultancy company after months of unemployment and few job prospects in the area of their expertise. Although they are both college graduates and have spent a combined 20 years in the insurance industry, the economy has proven to be tough on good job opportunities. “We talked about doing something like this several times over the last couple of years, but now the opportunity seemed to be just right. We are very excited about the insights we can offer clients to help them succeed” says Kerri.
