Quarles & Brady: Partner John T. Bannen Authored Study Entitled “Planning For Distributions From Qualified Plans, IRAs and Tax Sheltered Annuities”

MILWAUKEE, Wis. – The law firm of Quarles & Brady LLP today announced that partner John T. Bannen authored a study entitled “Planning for Distributions from Qualified Plans, IRAs and Tax Sheltered Annuities.” The study was developed for the Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance Company.

The study explains the options people have available to them to plan for retirement. Various distribution methods detailing how money from retirement investments can be dispensed to the retiree and his/her surviving spouse are also discussed. In addition, the study explains the formulas used to determine how much money would be dispensed each month based on the age of retirement.

Bannen concentrates his law practice in the areas of estate planning/probate, employee benefits and taxation. His experience includes drafting wills and trusts; planning for retirement; planning to help with the transition of property to spouses and children upon death; reviewing life insurance and annuity needs and settling disputes among family members relating to wills; and more.

He earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of St. Thomas, his law degree from Marquette University and an LLM in Taxation from De Paul University. Bannen is a fellow of the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel, where he is the chairperson for the Committee on Estate Planning for Employee Benefits. He has received his Charter Life Underwriter designation, has served as a Director of the Milwaukee Chapter of the American Society of CLU and ChFC and is an associate member of the Association of Advanced Life Underwriting. He has also served as a Director of the State Bar of Wisconsin Section of Real Property, Probate and Trust Law and is a frequent speaker on estate planning and retirement planning issues.
