Dept. of Commerce: Gov. Doyle Announces Funding For Standard Imaging, Inc.

MADISON – Gov. Jim Doyle today announced that Standard Imaging, Inc., Middleton, Dane County, in the Capital Ideas Technology Zone will receive $120,000 in Technology Zone tax credits. The Capital Ideas Technology Zone includes the counties of Dane, Jefferson, and Rock.

“My Grow Wisconsin initiative calls for supporting technology development and innovation in our business climate,” said Gov. Doyle. “I am pleased to provide funding to Standard Imaging, Inc. This award will allow the company to move forward in its investment in high-tech equipment.”

“The receipt of the tax benefit will help Standard Imaging, Inc. remain a leader in the field of radiation calibration and quality assurance instruments for healthcare, and more effectively compete in the international market,” said Ed Neumueller, president of Standard Imaging, Inc.

“The Technology Zone Program is assisting expansion at Standard Imaging, Inc.” said James Otterstein, representative of the Capital Ideas Technology Zone. “The development project will enable Standard Imaging to continue to be recognized as an industry leader in medical instrument manufacturing.”

Standard Imaging, Inc. will invest $965,000 to expand its business and purchase additional equipment. This project will create seven new positions and retain approximately 28 positions.

Standard Imaging, Inc. designs, manufactures, and distributes radiation calibration, quality assurance, source handling and other testing instruments used in supporting activities for radiation cancer therapy, cardiology applications, diagnostic radiology, medical imaging, and biomedical equipment calibration. The company now has products in 98 of the top 100 cancer treatment centers in the United States.

The Capital Ideas Technology Zone provides incentives for high-tech growth in knowledge-based, manufacturing, biotechnology, food processing, and business services industry clusters, among others.
