JG Development Inc.: Chosen to take part in Design MMOCA 2010

Blue Mounds, WI, February 12, 2010– JG Development, Inc, a Madison-area based design-materials-build firm, is honored to be selected as a participant in the 2010 Madison Museum of Contemporary Art’s (MMOCA) Design MMOCA.

“It is a privilege to participate in this year’s Design MMOCA,” say Jeff Grundahl, President, “we are honored to be selected, and look forward to the opportunity to showcase our design talents in a venue as unique as MMOCA.”

The Madison Museum of Contemporary Art will host its biennial interior design showcase, Design MMoCA, from April 23 to May 2, 2010. Both a fundraiser and a signature event for the museum, Design MMoCA celebrates the intersection of art and interior design through temporary “rooms” that are created by architects and designers, and displayed in the museum’s galleries. In response to the tremendous success of the inaugural Design MMoCA in 2008, the 2010 edition of the event has grown from three to ten days, and will be accompanied by an extensive program of lectures and events.

Design MMoCA 2010 challenges 16 of the region’s most creative designers and architects to use works of art from the museum’s permanent collection, including works by nationally and internationally acclaimed artists, as inspiration for the one-of-a-kind room designs. Rooms will take shape in the galleries and lobby of the museum–itself designed by renowned architect Cesar Pelli–and will include living, eating, working, and sleeping spaces.

To date, participating interior designers and architects include Aga Artka Interior Design LLC; Architectural Design Consultants, Inc.; Bungalow Pros; Carley & Carley; Karen Claffey-Koller, ASID; Driftmier Design; Dybhal’s Classic Kitchens; Flad Architects; Inner View; Interior Logic Facility Planning; JG Development, Inc.; Linville Architects; Strang; and Zanders Interiors.

Design MMoCA 2010 features a robust event schedule, including:

* An opening gala on the evening of Thursday, April 22. In addition to previewing the room designs, guests will have the opportunity to mingle with members of the design community and sample champagne and hors d’oeuvre pairings created by Fresco, the museum’s rooftop restaurant.

* A public meet-the-designer session on Sunday, April 25, in which visitors can meet all of the participating designers, ask questions, and inquire about design styles, techniques, and philosophies.

* A series of design lectures, including presentations on green architectural design, designing around art, choosing frames to complement décor and art, and many other topics.

* A series of gallery talks centered around the room vignettes.

* A Design MMoCA Bookshop, featuring exceptional books on design and architecture.

All proceeds raised through Design MMoCA will benefit the museums’ free-admissions policy, as well as its education and exhibition programs. Ten-day admission to Design MMoCA is $12; advance tickets will be available online for $10 beginning March 1. Members of the Madison Museum of Contemporary Art may purchase tickets at the reduced rate of $8.

Additional information about Design MMoCA 2010 is available on the website of the Madison Museum of Contemporary Art.

Design MMoCA is organized by the Madison Museum of Contemporary Art in partnership with the Wisconsin chapters of the American Society of Interior Designers, the International Interior Design Association, and the American Institute of Architects.
