Madison, WI – The Wisconsin REALTORS Association (WRA) recently awarded the Distinguished Service Award to members and staff who have provided many years of leadership and distinguished service to the WRA.

WRA Vice President of Legal and Public Affairs Mike Theo was presented with the Distinguished Service Award at the WRA’s Annual Convention in mid-September. Theo joined the staff of the association in 1985, where he currently serves as chief legislative lobbyist and manager of the association’s legal, legislative, political, research and public relations operations.

The Distinguished Service Award was established in 1985, and is the highest award conferred by the WRA. Recipients are those who have demonstrated a high level of commitment to the WRA, and who have contributed a substantial amount of time, effort and creative imagination to the association.

Theo has served on numerous committees and task forces for the National Association of REALTORS regarding land use and the environment, tax policy, education financing, political organizing and issue advocacy campaigns. He is a member of the American Society of Association Executives, serves on the Advisory Board for WisPolitics.com, and is a co-founder of the Wisconsin Higher Education Business Roundtable. He is very active in civic activities as well.

The Wisconsin REALTORS Association is one of the largest trade associations in the state, representing over 15,000 real estate brokers, salespeople and affiliates statewide. Its membership includes REALTORS, appraisers, inspectors, affiliate members and literally anyone involved with the real estate process. Members can take full advantage of a wide variety of products and services to assist with day-to-day business, including a legal staff, education, political representation and a number of print and online publications.
