Madison–Community and business leaders, economic development professionals, their board members, and elected officials will be interested in Alliant Energy’s upcoming economic development workshop, “Winning Site Selection Projects: Preparing the Community, Planning, and Targeting.”

The workshop focuses on developing relationships with site selectors and businesses undergoing site selection. It will be held on Wednesday, October 21st from 9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Holiday Inn Madison, 5109 West Terrace Drive.

“This is an excellent opportunity to hear industry professionals speak about an important component of economic development – helping businesses find the optimum growth site,” said Commerce Secretary Richard J. Leinenkugel. “I encourage the participation of local business and government leaders.”

The featured speakers will be Robert Pittman and Jennifer Tanner, Senior Principals of Janus Economics, a provider of site selection and economic development services. Janus Economics has consulted for the State of Tennessee’s Department of Economic and Community Development, Energy Louisiana, and the Michigan Economic Development Corporation, among others.

Sessions are focused on helping participants develop the skills needed to use site selection as a mechanism for community and economic development. Each participant will also receive a detailed 40-page handbook.

Registration is available online at midwestsites.com at a cost of $45 per individual. A reduced rate of $40 is available when registering more than one person per organization.
