Forum Will Provide Debate on Health Care Reform and Cost-Lowering Tools for Small Businesses

La Crosse — State Senator Dan Kapanke (R-La Crosse) will be serving as moderator at a Business Health Care Forum sponsored by Logistics Health Inc., on Friday, July 24 from 8 – 10 a.m. at the Riverside Center South, Cargill Room.

Former Wisconsin Governor Tommy G. Thompson and Logistics Health Inc. Chairman and CEO Don Weber will also be speaking. Presentations will be given by Franciscan Skemp Healthcare CEO, Dr. Robert Nesse; Gundersen Lutheran Health Care Policy Expert, Dr. Tom Schlesinger and Senior Vice President of Business Services at Gundersen Lutheran, Mr. Jerry Arndt. A panel of area healthcare industry leaders and small business owners will also be presenting.

As federal legislators debate health care reform at a national level, this forum will serve as an opportunity for small business owners and individuals to provide their input from an employer and small business angle and to listen to a diverse group of presenters speak on the issue of health care. According to a July 2009 survey conducted by the Small Business Majority, the number one concern for Wisconsin small businesses in healthcare reform is controlling costs. With national, state and local health care industry experts in attendance at the forum, this is a unique opportunity for small business owners to find ways to “fix their first aid kit” and obtain tools to help lower the cost of health care for their businesses and families.
