DATCP: Announcement of 62nd Alice in Dairyland Scheduled Friday, May 15

BURLINGTON – Six finalists will vie for Wisconsin’s 62nd Alice in Dairyland position this week. Wisconsin’s next agriculture ambassador will be announced Friday, May 15, in Burlington. This announcement will mark the culmination of the series of public events highlighting agriculture in Racine County, May 13-15, during the Alice in Dairyland finals.

Event Opportunities

6 p.m. Thursday, May 14, Aurora Wellness Center, 300 McCanna Pkwy. – Impromptu question and answer session. Current Alice in Dairyland Ashley Huibregste will ask the finalists questions she has actually received in the past year, providing an opportunity to see how they think on their feet.

1 p.m. Friday, May 15, Schall Dairy Farm, 1800 McKee Road — Huibregtse and agricultural broadcaster Orion Samuelson will face off in a milking contest, followed by agri-business tours in Racine County.

5:45 p.m. Friday, May 15, Burlington High School, 400 McCanna Pkwy. – Social hour and banquet.

7:30 p.m. Friday, May 15, Burlington High School, 400 McCanna Pkwy. — Finale selection program, with announcement of the 62nd Alice in Dairyland slated for 9 p.m. The program will be webcast at http://www.wisconsinagconnection.com. A press release will be emailed and posted at http://www.datcp.state.wi.us immediately afterward.

The milking contest is a fun symbol of tradition in Wisconsin agriculture, and the six professional women are proof of how agriculture continues to modernize and innovate to be profitable today,” Huibregste said. She will recap her year at Friday evening’s program.

Alice in Dairyland is a full-time public relations professional employed by the DATCP Division of Agricultural Development for a one-year term. Each year, Alice travels more than 40,000 miles throughout the state and nation, promoting Wisconsin products to audiences of all ages and types. She educates the media, youth and civic groups about the many facets of the state’s agricultural industry.
