MILWAUKEE, April 20 /PRNewswire/ — Governor Scott McCallum has been named a Senior Fellow, Discovery Institute announced today. McCallum was the Governor of Wisconsin from 2001-2003 and is President and CEO of The McCallum Group. As Senior Fellow of Discovery Institute Mr. McCallum will work on issues of state and regional development.

McCallum is a strong proponent of government reform. His article, “Budget Deficit Presents Opportunity for Reform,” was published in this month’s issue of the national magazine State News, and he addressed the importance of reforming government in a March 30 keynote speech for a program sponsored by the Green Bay Chamber of Commerce and St. Norbert’s College on Cooperation in Government. The speech was titled “Perspectives in Financing to Force Government Reform.” McCallum focuses on this issue in a keynote speech to the Transit System Association on May 19.

McCallum’s work with Discovery Institute follows his efforts as Governor to implement reform using shared revenue as an incentive for cooperation and putting spending caps in place for all of government. McCallum present work expands these efforts and advances initiatives for growing Wisconsin’s economy.

“Governor McCallum’s work reforming government through shared revenues fits very well with Discovery Institute’s history of encouraging public-private cooperation,” said Bruce Chapman, president of the Institute. “We’re excited to have him on board and expect him to be an important part of our public policy research and public education efforts.”

McCallum will continue to write and speak on collaborative government, economic development, and education as a Senior Fellow.
