Harley-Davidson(R) Announces Women’s Activities at Sturgis Motorcycle Rally

Second Annual Harley-Davidson Women’s Day Slated for August 7

MILWAUKEE, July 10 /PRNewswire/ — Harley-Davidson plans to feature many activities and events geared towards women during the historic 68th Annual Sturgis Motorcycle Rally in August. Among the activities planned at the Rushmore Plaza Civic Center in Rapid City, August 2-9, is a Harley-Davidson interactive women’s area featuring giveaways, prizes and motorcycle information.

Women who visit the interactive area will find information on the special Harley-Davidson Let Freedom Ring promotion, women’s Garage Parties and Riders Edge(R). The Motor Company will also host the second annual Women’s Day at the Civic Center on Thursday, August 7, 2008. Activities planned for Women’s Day include women’s demo rides, as well as seminars focused on teaching women how to customize their motorcycle and how to pick up a fallen motorcycle.

“We’re excited about Women’s Day, as well as the other women’s activities at Sturgis,” said Leslie Prevish, Women’s Outreach Manager for Harley-Davidson Motor Company. “These are just part of our overarching programs to encourage more women to act on their dreams of learning to ride.”

Over the past decade, women have increasingly embraced the sport of motorcycling — seeking the freedom and empowerment associated with hitting the open road. Today, women represent nearly 12 percent of new Harley-Davidson motorcycle purchases.

Following is a complete schedule of activities planned for Women’s Day. Please note that all activities will be hosted at the Rushmore Plaza Civic Center:

In addition to activities planned at the Rushmore Plaza Civic Center, Harley-Davidson is holding the Women’s Challenge for the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA). Women will be able to get involved in the challenge by picking up a “Ride Card” at any of the four participating area dealerships, including Black Hills Harley-Davidson and Buell, Sturgis Harley-Davidson, Hill City Harley-Davidson and Deadwood Harley-Davidson or at the Women’s Interactive Area at the Civic Center. The cards will also soon be available online at http://www.blackhillshd.com/.

To participate, women must visit at least two of the participating dealerships and find the special Women’s Challenge mannequin. On display will be a hang-tag with the answer to one of the four questions printed on the Ride Card. After completing at least two questions from the Ride Card, women can submit it at the Women’s Interactive Area in the Civic Center for a chance to win MotorClothes merchandise. Ride Cards can be submitted between Aug. 2 and Aug. 9. For every qualifying Ride Card submitted, the H-D Motor Company will donate $5 to MDA Summer Camps.
